Pregnancy…Birth…Motherhood…and Beyond
Pregnancy, giving birth and new motherhood are a special period in a woman’s life. For many women, these important months of transition are filled with joy, excitement and anticipation. Bringing a new life into the world is a momentous event. Experiencing the love of a child is rewarding and fulfilling in countless ways.
But for some women, this life passage may not be as smooth. Even while feeling excited and joyful, some women also experience unexpected anxiety, fear, sadness, and grief. The physical changes in their bodies and the challenges of caring for a newborn can be overwhelming. Issues around infertility, a previous miscarriage, a traumatic birth experience, a cesarean section or the loss of a loved one may surface during this time.
I believe women need support, encouragement and help to navigate the many emotions they may experience before, during and after giving birth. I offer private counseling for women to explore their feelings during this major life transition. I provide gentle support for the woman who is having feelings about her new role as mother. For the woman who is challenged by other changes she is experiencing, I provide counseling. For the woman who lost her own mother earlier in her life or whose mother is unavailable, pregnancy and postpartum may be a time she needs extra support to deal with unexpected feelings she is having. I provide support to the woman who has had a difficult or traumatic birth experience. I work with women preparing for VBAC, vaginal birth after cesarean. I also work with women who have lost a baby, providing a safe outlet for grieving and healing.
I also offer private counseling to women, at any stage of life, who are experiencing a life transition, a loss or trauma, or anxiety. It is my dream that every woman have a sacred space to explore her emotions and feel comforted, during the journey to motherhood and throughout her life. I would be honored to help you in a way that is nurturing and meaningful to you.
In these unprecedented times, it is so important to take care of ourselves. The constantly changing news, stress, and isolation may present many challenges and emotions for women who are pregnant or have recently given birth. I am offering remote private sessions to help women navigate the feelings that may be arising at this time. In these sessions, I will help women process their thoughts and feelings as they prepare to give birth and become mothers. We will discuss self-care strategies to help get through these challenging times.
